Città, Chiesa e missione. Appunti e note per evangelizzare la cultura urbana all'inizio del terzo millennio: Non domandare: "Come mai i tempi antichi erano migliori del presente?" PoichÃ© una tale domanda non Ã¨ ispirata da saggezza (cf. Qo 7,10). Sono i pagani ad aver connaturato un simile atteggiamento. I cristiani trovano il presente ed il futuro riposanti e sicuri quanto il passato. Essi sanno che non c'Ã¨ niente di nuovo sotto il sole (cf. Qo 1,9) e ne hanno tratto un sostanziale disincanto rispetto agli entusiasmi progressisti di chi guarda all'apparenza e non al cuore (cf. 1Sam 16,7). Hanno tuttavia imparato dal loro Signore a leggere i segni dei tempi (cf. Mt 16,3), a riconoscere quando i rami del fico sono teneri (cf. Mt 24,32) e quando manca poco alla mietitura (cf. Gv 4,35). Segni dei tempi non sono, per loro, soltanto gli eventuali incoraggianti indizi di positive potenzialitÃ , piÃ¹ o meno forzatamente riscontrate, ma anche i sintomi allarmanti della dissoluzione della societÃ , in favore della quale sono costituiti profeti sia che ascolti, sia che non ascolti (cf. Ez 2,5.7). Il loro atteggiamento di fronte al "nuovo che avanza" Ã¨ quello dello scriba esperto (cf. Mt 13,52) che sa riconoscere nel suo tesoro le cose veramente nuove da quelle che nuove sono solo di nome. La loro lettura degli avvenimenti Ã¨, per lo piÃ¹, diversa da quella di tutti gli altri uomini e per questo se ne attirano l'odio, come Giuseppe con i suoi sogni (cf. Gen 37,8). Don't ask: "why did the ancient times were better than this?" Because such a question is not inspired by wisdom (cf. QO 7.10). Are the pagans to their inherent in such an attitude. Christians soothing and safe are the present and the future as the past. They know that there is nothing new under the Sun (cf. QO 1.9) and have a substantial disappointment compared to the progressive viewer's enthusiasms to the appearance, not the heart (cf. 1 Sam 16.7). They have however learned from their Lord to read the signs of the times (cf. 16.3 Mt), to recognize when the branches of the Fig are tender (cf. Mt 24.32) and when it is shortly to harvest (cf. JN 4.35). Signs of the times are not, for them, only encouraging positive potential clues, if any, more or less forcibly encountered, but also alarming symptoms of the dissolution of the company, which are made of prophets is that listens or not listen to (cf. EZ 2, 5.7). Their attitude in front of the "nuovo che avanza" is that of the scribe expert (cf. Mt 13.52) that can recognize in his treasure things really new to those who are new in name only. Their reading of events is largely different from that of all other men and why they attract hatred, like Joseph with his dreams (cf. Jan 37.8).
